Montie Ray Broome

Montie was born at St. John Hospital in Tulsa, Ok January 9, 1944 the son of Mont Issac and Evelyn (Reid) Broome. Following an amazing battle with cancer and on his own terms he passed March 22, 2023 at Saint Francis Hospital, Tulsa, Ok. Montie was proceeded in death by father Mont Issac and loving mother Evelyn also one son Larry Brian Smith. Montie is survived by his wife Carol of the home, sons Montie Jr. (Allison) Kyle TX, Keith Smith (Shelby) Atoka, OK., Dennis Smith (Michelle) Henryetta, OK. sister Delilah Siegenthaler (Ron) Tulsa, Ok, Michelle Stremme Henryetta, OK, Mother-in-law Blanche Adams, brothers-in-law Logan Alsup (Jennifer) , Greg Alsup (Gail) , Chad Adams (Tracy), sister-in-law EG Bennett. Nine grandchildren and one great grandchild , numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Montie graduated from Henryetta High School in 1962 to the sounds of The Loco-Motion and Surfing’ Safari. Montie was an outstanding athlete. As an adult he coached youth football and baseball. Montie remained “Always a Fighting Hen” Montie attended Conners Junior College where he played basketball and later graduated from NSU. Montie was employed by Frisco Railroad( BNSF Railway), he was a switchman/brakeman retiring as a Trainmaster in 2004 after 34 years of service. Montie loved playing golf and being with friends, he always had a story. Some of his favorite times were spent at “The Ranch” hunting with his boys and friends. Montie professed his faith as a young man and clung to his belief in The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. Montie was an ‘ In Charge” person, so much that he planned his own service, even approving his obituary. No more sadness only joy, rest in peace our dear Montie. In lieu of flowers Montie requests donations be made to the Henryetta High School Athletic Department through Rogers Funeral Home, 1302 W Main, Henryetta, OK 74437 Services and a celebration of life will be held at Rogers Funeral Home. Visitation from 1 pm to 7 pm on Friday, March 24th. The family will be in attendance from 5 pm to 7 pm on Friday night. Celebration of life will be Saturday, March 25th at 2:00 pm. Services are under the direction of the Rogers Funeral Home.
