April 2, 1933 - October 30, 2020
Orvella Mourine Hahn passed away October 30, 2020 at age 87. She was born in Erick, Oklahoma on April 2, 1933. She was the daughter of William (Pat) and Virginia Vance. Her father worked for Rock Island railroad, which moved them to many places. They finally moved to El Reno when Orvella was in 8th grade. Orvella was 14 when she met Charlie B. This started the beginning of a beautiful relationship that lasted 70 years. They were married on November 28, 1954. Orvella went to nursing school at Mercy Hospital and was so proud of her career. She worked for Central State University while Charlie finished his degree in education. She then worked for Dr. Nelson, as an ENT nurse. She also became a school nurse at Roosevelt Junior High and finally finished her school nursing at Western Heights public school where she retired. Orvella was an amazing artist. Family, friends and many others have admired, purchased, gifted and still have paintings in their homes, today. She was also well known for her talents in sewing and crafting, but her deepest joy came from her family. She was a wonderful cook and an even better hostess! While everyone ate, you would often find her making sure drinks were full, and everyone had enough to eat. Orvella loved watching her kids and grandkids in sports, recitals and other activities. She was always their biggest cheerleader! She loved shopping for the best deals that were "on sale” and was always so proud when she found the perfect item for that special someone. Church was so important to her. She was willing to help in anyway she could whether it be teaching a class, being in choir, or volunteering. She truly loved her church. Orvella was spunky, full of life, and so much energy. These characteristics lead her to be known as "hyper Nana”. Her sneezes were the loudest. Her coffee was the hottest. Her faith was the strongest. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles, her husband of 63 Years and her brother Benji Vance. Orvella is survived by her children, Charla Wilkes, Perry Hahn and wife Cathy, Scott Hahn and wife Mandi. Brother, Dr. Donald Vance and wife Karen.
