James Ridley “Jim” Lonsdale was born to Walter Hiram “Slim” and Sylvia (Thironet) Lonsdale on December 18, 1938, in McGregor, CO, and departed this life, surrounded by his family, in Henryetta, OK on February 12, 2022, at the age of 83. Jim grew up in Colton and Pleasant Valley, OK, graduating from Schulter High School in 1956. He was a member of the Schulter Baptist Church and held many careers over his life. Besides being a jack-of-all-trades, he worked in the pipeline industry taking him across America. He served 4 years as the Okmulgee County election board secretary. However, much of his life was spent working in the newspaper and newspaper printing industry in California, Henryetta, Pryor, Okmulgee, Tecumseh, Checotah, and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He also found time to serve as a Councilman for the city Henryetta and the treasure for the Henryetta historical society. After a 23-year courtship, Jim, aka Walter, finally eloped with his Mae, aka Linda Kaye (Meadors) on July 4, 2021, at First Freewill Baptist Church in Henryetta. He loved to deer hunt and when he was no longer able to go anymore, he could still talk your ear off about it. Jim and Linda loved being out in nature riding the 4-wheelers and shooting. After Jim’s retirement, he enjoyed searching out his family ancestry and sifting through any information he could find on the history of Colton and Pleasant Valley. He enjoyed talking about the information he dug up to anyone who would listen. Politics and patriotism were important to Jim and not a single person who knew him ever had to guess as to what his viewpoint might be. Jim joined the Fraternal Brotherhood of Mason in 1966 and is a member of the Eastern Star. Initiated an Entered Apprentice May 10, 1966 Passed to the Degree of Fellowcraft June 9, 1966 Raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason July 17, 1966 Became a Master of the Royal Secret of the 32nd degree of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, November 5th, 1983, In the Valley of McAlester Orient of Oklahoma All degrees were received in Tulledega Lodge No. 201, Henryetta, Oklahoma. Brother Jim received his 50 Year Service Award on January 13. 2017 He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Wally, Gene, and Benny Lonsdale; a sister, Veda Fronabarger and Daughter, Cheryl LeAnn Lonsdale Survivors include his wife Linda Lonsdale, of the home, 5 children, Ben Lonsdale and Jeanna Price of Tulsa, OK, Jimmie and wife Heather Lonsdale of Moore, OK, Mike and wife Michelle Lonsdale of Claremore, OK, Mike and wife Stephanie Sains of Shawnee, OK and Tammy and husband Jason Merritt of McKinney, TX. 16 grandchildren: Michael Phillip, Caleb, Brittney, Justin, Shelby, Miranda, Emma, and Michala Lonsdale, Clay and Ashley Sains, Mika and Quentin Wireman, Laura Castillo, Timmy, and Lexi Sains, Megan Merritt, Abbey “His Peanut” Merritt. 2 great-grandsons and 1 great-granddaughter along with nieces, nephews, many friends, and finally yet importantly “Beau Henry” Jim’s recliner buddy. Pallbearers: Benny Lonsdale, Jimmy Lonsdale, Mike Lonsdale, John Lonsdale, Vernon VanMeter, Mike Sains, Clay Sains, and Kelly Hawkins. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jim’s name to the Schulter Alumni Association (make checks to the Schulter Alumni Scholarship Association and leave at Rogers Funeral Home or First Federal Credit Union) or the Fraternal Brotherhood of Mason's scholarship fund. Funeral service will be 1:00 pm, Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at the Nazarene Church with Rev. Terry Cosey and Rev. Tim Cole, officiating. Interment will be at the Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of the Rogers Funeral Home. Family will be receiving friends at the Funeral Home, Tuesday Evening form 6:00 to 8:00pm
