Minna Jean Cook

Minna Jean (Lowe) Cook, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Henryetta, Oklahoma, on July 7, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on February 14, 1935, in Okemah, Oklahoma, Jean was the seventh of eleven children born to Earnest and Sarah Lowe. Growing up on the family farm, she learned the value of hard work at an early age, helping with demanding chores such as picking cotton and peanuts. Those experiences instilled in her the strong work ethic, perseverance, and determination that would define her. Jean graduated from Calvin High School and was awarded an art scholarship to attend college. Instead, she chose to move to California to begin working. It was there that she met the love of her life, Glen Cook. They were married on August 28, 1955, and together began a life of faith, devotion, and service. As a proud Navy wife, Jean faithfully followed Glen to several military assignments along the coast of Southern California, Washington, D.C., New Hampshire, and Connecticut. Wherever they lived, they found a church home, served others, and faithfully raised their children to know and love the Lord. During Glen's many military deployments, Jean faced the challenges of caring for her home and children alone for months at a time with remarkable strength and determination. She took great pride in keeping an immaculate home—often joking that she never wanted the movers to find dust beneath her refrigerator. To help support the family, she cleaned houses, planted and tended vegetable gardens, canned the harvest, and became a skilled seamstress. She lovingly sewed clothing for herself and her children, performed alterations, and created beautiful prom dresses, wedding gowns, and quilts that reflected both her talent and her generosity. While living in Connecticut during Glen's final years of active military service, Jean began attending a local church and a ladies' Bible study. Through her study of Scripture, she came to a deeper understanding of God's great love, grace, and forgiveness. This experience transformed her life and became the foundation of a vibrant faith that she joyfully shared with everyone she met. After Glen retired from the military, the couple returned to their Oklahoma roots and made their home in Henryetta. Together they remodeled and expanded their house, a labor of love they enjoyed sharing. Jean especially cherished working alongside her hardworking husband, helping with framing, drywalling, taping, painting, and staining. They created their own quilting business, running it together for decades. Jean faithfully shared the message of the Lord's love, mercy, faithfulness, forgiveness, and grace with everyone she encountered. Whether she was welcoming a new neighbor in military housing, visiting with a waitress in a restaurant, encouraging a family member, or speaking with a caregiver during her recent illness, she never missed an opportunity to tell others about Jesus. She lovingly encouraged people to read their Bible and place their faith in Him. Jean will be remembered for her unwavering faith in the Lord, her unconditional love for others, her servant's heart, and the quiet strength that carried her through every season of life. Her legacy of faith, kindness, hard work, and devotion will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know and love her. Minna Jean was preceded in death by her parents Earnest and Sarah Lowe, a baby sister Geraldine Lowe, her brothers Noel, Johnnie, Cleetis, JB and Ronald Lowe. She is survived by her Husband Glen Cook, her daughters Jeanie Lynn Brice and Glenda Denise Inman, her sons Glen Ray Cook, Jr. and Robert Reed Cook, 14 grandchildren and numerous greatgrandchildren, her sisters Imogene Blaylock, Melba Cook, Joyce Ledbetter and Ellen Gray, and many nieces and nephews all of whom will deeply miss her. Funeral service will be 10:30 am, Friday, July 10 at the Dewar First Baptist Church. Interment will be 2:00 pm, at the Calvin Cemetery, Calvin, Ok under the direction of the Rogers Funeral Home.
