Frances Black

Frances Black a resident of Henryetta passed away on Oct 7, 2014 in Henryetta at the age of 96. Frances was preceded in death by her husband Silas, daughter Jean Summers, one brother Frank Kaczynski and one sister Jeny Letts. Frances is survived by a son Ron Black and wife Calella of Henryetta, Daughter Norma Black of Henryetta, and Mary Ann Swan and husband Glen of Henryetta. Twelve grandchildren, twenty eight great grandchildren and eleven great great grandchildren. Frances and Silas were married June 23, 1936 and were happily married 591/2 years. Frances was a long time faithful member of the First Baptist Church. She accepted Jesus as her Savior and was baptized at the age of 22. It was a priority of hers to see that her children attended church every Sunday. Frances was the Nursery Director at the First Baptist Church for Forty Five years. It was a record she was very proud of. She loved children and they loved her. Parents of the children she kept loved her dearly also. Frances had numerous dear friends. Everyone who knew her loved her. She had such a likable personality and a beautiful smile. She had numerous jobs outside the home but her first priority was her family. Frances was a mother who made many sacrifices for her family. Her mother died when she was a baby and she grew up without even knowing a mothers love. In spite of that she knew how to be a mother. She was a wonderful, precious mother. She was the greatest! Frances was a wonderful wife to her husband Silas whom she dearly loved and a wonderful homemaker. She was a great cook and loved to cook and bake. Everything was homemade with special touches and recipes. She made the very best homemade rolls and waffle cookies. She also enjoyed her hobbies. She loved to quilt and made many beautiful quilts. People would comment on her beautiful stitching. She belonged to two quilting clubs. She also belonged to the sewing club called the thimble club and was made up of a group of close knit friends. She was the last remaining member of that club. She lived a very active life. She was always thinking of others ready to lend a helping hand or make her home made rolls and take to a friend. She had a beautiful smile and always a positive preserving attitude. She leaves her family with many many wonderful memories. She will be greatly missed but will live on in our hearts. Graveside service will be 10:00 am, Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the Westlawn Cemetery with Rev. Ron Black officiating. Services under the direction of the Rogers Funeral Home. `
